The Tyn-y-Coed - which is Welsh for house in the wood - has been catering for the needs of travellers, mountaineers, farmers & quarrymen for at least two hundred years. Coincidentally the family who own it can trace their origins in Welsh hospitality for the same length of time.

The hosts George & Jayne, Helen & Markhave over the last twenty years developed the property into a very relaxed & friendly hotel with bedrooms tastefully furnished and each, naturally, has a bathroom, television, phone with data sockets, and hot drinks tray. We have four family rooms. For guests on a more modest budget we have a room for 5 in bunks with private bathroom.

We serve a wide range of ales, wines, food etc. and attract a mixed & cheerful clientele. For clients searching for more peaceful evening we also have a restaurant with accompanying bar, open at busy periods or when booked in advance. Our menu largely consists of Welsh produce sourced from local specialist suppliers. As Jayne has to eat a gluten free diet we are especially sympathetic to special diets.

The Hotel is fully licensed and three of the bar rooms have open fires, the main two rooms are tiled - so no need to remove your walking boots - and the Siabod room is carpeted. Come and count how many jugs we have on the ceiling! The old Quarrymans bar at the rear has a pool table.

All our front rooms , public and bedrooms, look out on Moel Siabod, nothing to look at except beautiful scenery no matter what time of year and sheep! At the side of the main bar is an attractive patio area. Dogs welcome with prior booking.

Across the road the River Llugwy flows past the meadow belonging to the hotel, the stretch includes a deep pool perfect for swimming and many shallow parts where our younger guests enjoy 'fishing' , paddling or skimming stones. Please feel free to bring canoes or rubber dinghies.

Guests of Tyn-y-Coed enjoy a 25% discount on green fees at the nearby Betws-y-Coed club - a super nine hole course in a picturesque setting
